A student turning a side project into a small business between lectures
The work
Plenty of businesses start in a bedroom with a laptop and a good idea. Keeping orders, customers and money straight while still sitting exams is the hard part.
Where it gets hard
- Customer messages arrive on every app at once
- Money in and money out share a personal bank card
- Growing means learning a new tool for each job
What running it in one place changes
- Customers and orders are kept in one place from the first sale
- Business money is recorded apart from personal spending
- The same place grows with the business, so nothing has to be moved later
